Masakazu Morita and Yuki Matsuoka will be returning to voice their respective roles of Ichigo and Orihime, while Takayuki Sugo has been cast as Yhwach in the second part of the series. Additionally, Tite Kubo revealed in an interview that this new season will animate a fight not depicted in the manga, featuring a clash between two undisclosed characters. The anime production team requested that the fight be included during this time frame, prompting Kubo to revisit the concept. He even provided five or six pages of illustrations to demonstrate how the characters would move, transition, and engage in battle.

The original TV anime adaptation of Tite Kubo's BLEACH manga was produced by Studio Pierrot and ran from October 2004 to March 2012, consisting of a total of 366 episodes. The English license for the series was obtained by VIZ Media, who have provided a synopsis for the upcoming 2022 storyline, titled TYBWA.
